SOME FACTS ABOUT SCARBOROUGH ...

Comer Lee Scarborough opened in September, 1968. It was the first middle school in Mobile. It was named for Dr. Comer Lee Scarborough. He was an assistant superintendent in the Mobile County Public School System. The transformation to Scarborough Model Middle School took place in 2016.

Our official colors are hunter green and gray.

Our mascot is the knights (formerly the wildcat).

Extra-curricular Activities

 

SCARBOROUGH'S EXTRACURRICULAR CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS ...

Extracurricular activities are essential to the student's involvement in and positive attitude toward Scarborough Model Middle School. A variety of clubs will be offered to students. Some will be of their choice.  A few clubs will have academic standards or other standards that must be met to be a member.  Every student is encouraged to become involved in school clubs and organizations.  The following are the organizations offered at SMMS:

National Junior Honor Society

To become a member of the NJHS, a student must have a 3.5 cumulative average, demonstrate appropriate behavior.

SPORTS

Competitive athletics will be offered to grades 7 and 8.  The following sports will be offered:

Baseball - Boys only

Basketball - Girls and Boys     

Cheerleading - Girls Only*                  

Football - Boys Only             

Track - Girls and Boys

Volleyball - Girls only

Students are reminded that to participate in any sport, a student must maintain a 70% average in 5 classes and meet all eligibility requirements of the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
